Chapter 9 :
Chapter nine is one of the most important chapters in the book to a future educator . Why you may ask ? This is because we learn about different types of learning activities . Before we get into that good staff we need to learn what are learning activities ? They are define as learning strategies that have a kind of procedural knowledge . In simplest terms is knowing how to do something (p.321). As I read the chapter I understood the importance of learning strategies . They were created to help students become cognitively engaged - this helps them focus their attention on the relevant and important aspects of the material (p.326). Another information that I found very useful from this readings was problem solving . Problem solving is both general and domain specific . I love the fact that in the reading they are able to break down the steps that come in the idea of problem solving . The steps include identifying the problem , setting goals , exploring possible solutions and consequences and finally evaluating the outcome (p.328). I believe that this is important specially because it helps us guide our guide to achievement. When you identify the problem it helps you realize how much of a problem you have . When you set goal it gives you that thrive that you need to push you forward . However , I think that its very important for any individual to set realistic goals. Lastly , from this chapter I want to talk to you about critical thinking . Critical thinking skills include defining and clarifying the problem , making judgments about the information related to the problem , and drawing conclusions (p.343). Every child need to learn to develop their critical thinking by doing so they their are able to have their own voice and develop their own opinion . They need to know that their opinion counts and that if you dont speak for you self other may speak for you .
Chapter 10
Constructivist views of learning recommend complex, challenging learning environments and authentic tasks . By doing so students would be able to know how to deal with social negotiations . The most important thing in my opinion is understanding that knowledge is constructed . The way I interpret this is that we are not born with knowledge we build it . With hard work and determination we are able to construct knowledge and build from it .
Another thing that I learn was reciprocal learning . The goal of reciprocal learning is to help students understand and think deeply about what they read (p.380). This is very important for everyone they way I see it is that everyone can read but not everyone can understand what they read . I can honestly say that sometimes I have read papers or articles and later when I needed to know the information I completely forgot it . Why you may ask ? This is because I was reading it to finish and was not reading it with focus . I learn the hard way that I needed to read to comprehend and understand . Or am I the only one this has happen to ?
From our weekly resources what I LOVE was the Miracle Speech ! This is one of the best resources that this class has given us . I like this so much that I have save that video so I can play it when I need reassurance. When the coach says , " Great moments are born with great opportunities." How many times has an opportunity presented itself and we were to afraid fallow it . This speech is all about perseverance , its about being the best think thing that we CAN be . Its about being born to become what we are meant to become . This is our time to succeed, archive and follow our dreams !! So ladies and gentlemen we are all here at Trinity because are time has come , because we can do it and because WE WILL DO IT !!!! Who's with me!?

For the classroom management project I choose the right and wrong way to begin the class first thing in the morning. First thing in the morning I believe is always hectic for the teacher and students . This is because everyone is always doing something . The students are either turning in their homework , ordering lunch, and putting away their belonging. This just calls for interruptions and allows the students to get off track . In the first videos which is the wrong way I present a teacher unsuccessfully trying to get the the attention of her students but she has lost the control of the class. We can clearly see that the teacher has raise her voice and has become agitated because her students are ignoring her . This is because she gave then just enough time to begin personal conversations that has nothing to do with their studies . At one point when can see that one of the girls shows disrespect to the teacher and her class . She says ," I hate this this class and this class is so boring ." The response of the teacher is negative. As we all could imagine having all this commotion first thing in the morning its not so good for the teacher . I think that this represents that how the rest of the teacher would go for the teacher and the students because they began their day on the "wrong side of the bad." Could you imagine beginning you day like that ?
On the second video I made the attempt to show the correct way for classroom management. I believe that its very important that a teacher shows that she is in control of her class. The students need to know that in the morning before the teaching begins they need to order lunch, pass homework and put their belonging in their lockers quickly . They also need to know that this time is not meant for students to socialize and lose control. I believe that they need to know that conversations are limited and that they should be ready to begin their classwork immediately . From the very beginning students need to know that the teacher is in charge of the classroom and that their would be consequences if they choose not to listen and fallow directions . By having the rules set from the very beginning the students would know that the expectations of the teacher throws them and their behavior are pretty high.
Lastly , I believe that every classroom teacher should set high expectation of their students and had a set routine enforce in the classroom. By doing so the student knows from the very beginning that in their classroom that are positive and negative reinforcement . If they choose to not fallow and not to listen to their teacher they should know that their actions would bring in negative reinforcement. However , if they do listen and get to work quickly after doing their morning routine then they would know that rewards would be on their way . By rewards it could be anywhere from ," great job getting ready class" and if they do it the whole week then maybe they could choice a fun activity to do at the end of the week . I believe that its very important for the student to know that any action positive/negative has a reaction .

Module 3
Chapter seven was a very interesting chapter because it was all about the behavior views of learning . Before I go ahead and speak about what I think of the chapter I am going to speak about the most important aspects that picked my interest . What is learning ? We all know by know that learning takes places when experiences cause a change in a persons knowledge and behavior. It is important to know that learning is affected and impact by the surroundings of a child . If their surrounding are positive then their work shows it in a positive way . However , if their surroundings are negative then the student would do almost anything because that is a sigh for help .
Another aspect that I found to be very import would be the difference between cue and prompt. Cue provides a stimulus that "sets up" a desired behavior(p.255). This is important for teachers to know because by becoming not only familiar with it and knowing how to use it positively them we can use it well as a tool for classroom management . Prompt is a reminder that fallows a cue to make sure the person reacts to the cue . I believe that by being able to use the words written about a teacher can develop a good relationship with their students and the results would not only be positive but they are also going to be noticeable. Another thing that I found very fascinating is to learn to distinguish the difference between learning and performance.Simple put it we all know more then we show. This is very important not only for children but for adults as well . Have you even hear a question on TV or on the radio and know the answered but are two afraid to say that you know the answered. Then, when you hear the response was the one that you were thinking you feel kind of silly ? Well this goes perfect with knowing more then we think we know .
Now , in the classical conditioning video I learn that some people could be very easily manipulated . Every time that the ball rang people feel the need to eat . Now, do I agree with this experiments ? No , because I do not think they are fair and to be honest they were a little disgraceful. Why would anyone participate in this ? I know that is an experiment but I just dont think that this is the correct one to prove a point .
Lastly , I read and took the Positive Reinforcement Exercise and let me tell you after taking it I felt very out of place . I thought it was hard, tricky and way to wordy witch in my opinion is a lethal combination. Then, I thought that this was an activity that I enjoy doing and would do more of it only is they change the wording of the questions being asked.

Module 2 ; Week 2
Chapter 4 was indeed a very interesting chapter because it was fill not only interesting facts but as well as facts that were surprising. We learn all about labels and the advantages and disadvantages that come from it . Of course , we all know this by now . We see it in our surroundings almost every day . When someone labels someone else as pretty , intelligent and charismatic it makes us fill superior , proud and like we have the world at our feet . However, when those labels are the complete opposite it makes us feel not worthy and completely miserable. Yet, we keep reading and seeing magazines in witch labeling is accepted . Everyone enjoys being label positively nut what happens when we are label negatively? That's when he have conversations on how wrong something is , but then as soon as we turn our backs we label . Why ?
One things that I learn was the definition of the word Handicap ,"cap-in-hand" . I never knew were it came from and after reading the literal meaning I don't think that I will be using it in my speech .
One thing that I love learning were the different styles of how the language develops . So as we all know it all begins with languages and it goes to different transformations until we reach the emergent skill . Emergent literacy was what I found to be the most interesting skill in the reading . This is because its a skill that its usually developed in the preschool years , that are the foundations for the development of reading and writing(pg.171). I just think that this is one of the coolest skills because when the children are able to develop and master this skill then become better writers and can develop reading and writing faster .
Another fact that I found very interesting was all the advantages that a bilingual student has . Recent research on the brain and bilingualism show that people who learn two languages before the age of 5 process both languages in the same way as those who learn only languages and use the same part of the brain (p.175). I
I can speak two languages I never know everything that happened and took place in my brain while I was speaking two languages . One thing is for sure it so interesting to know how the brain functions and how a bilingual student has the power to turn any of the languages that he/she speaks off and on . To master this takes time but once you get the hold of it is a treasure that you know no-one can take away from you .
Lastly , we are all fortunate to live in a country were we are able to see diversity and culture from different parts of the world all around us . As future teachers , we know that diversity is going to be with us in every step that we take. Our job is to understand it , respect it and celebrated . I truly believe that if we are educated about diversity we are going to make our future students welcome. We know that each and every classroom right now is a canvas of diversity and nit would continue to became that . Lets embrace it and know that we are all privilege because we live in a country that was built from diverse humans .

About the Class You Observed
1. How
much time is devoted each day to instruction in the classroom? Describe the
class periods (if applicable)? Choose a content area of your specialty or
major. How much time is devoted to teaching that subject? The class would be describe in periods of 45
minutes. They class periods would run from math, grammar, social studies,
science and life skills along with their specials.
2. is
there any ability grouping or tracking? If so, please describe how it affects
your class.
Yes , the teacher made special groups witch
were design for the students that needed extra help in certain areas were they
have seem to be straggling with.
3. Identify
any textbook or instructional program you primarily use for instruction. If a
textbook, please provide the title, publisher, and date of publication. They
use a program called Great Leaps. I don’t know the publisher, and date of
publications .This instructional program helps the struggling readers.
4. List
other resources (e.g., SMARTBoard, manipulatives, online resources) used for instruction
in this class. They do not have a SMART Board, however they have an Elmo,
computers and IPads. They seem to use a program called ABC YA and Scoop pad.
5. What do you know about what your students know, what can they do,
and what are they learning to do? What do you know about your students’
everyday experiences, cultural backgrounds and practices, and interests? I was
very impress with some of the students because they were at reading level. They
were learning to identify the main point of the text. They use and are in the
process of identifying close reading. Witch deals with finding the main point
of the text in the story.
6. Describe one teaching event. What best
practices in teaching were used?
I love the fact the teacher was using many
kids of teaching skills and that she made the lesson interesting and she made
sure that everyone in her class was paying attention. When she would ask a question she made sure
that other classmates would help their classmates would help her answered the questions.
I like the fact that it was all a team work. She made sure that everyone in the class was
at tune .
Module 1 :
The resources of this week were very interesting and to be honest they open my eyes to the reality sad that this nation is facing . On one of the videos we see president Barack Obama speaking on education . He said ," Although we have made significant progress this nation is still falling behind ." I wounder why? Could it be because he have place all of our energy and teaching time on test ? Every day it just seems that we hear about a new test doesn't it ? When we are preparing our students for that new test other nation are introducing them to art, mathematics, science and other academic subjects which are helping them succeeded in the future. President Obama has great ideas when it comes to the reform of education however I can understand why must everything fall on the teacher's shoulders ? When he said that good teacher would be rewarded well I want to know what are the qualifications of a good teacher? I believe that every teacher is a good teacher because they decided that they were going to go into this field . I just think that teachers right know are a stress because its all about having their students to perform at their best . Some of them are so nervous because if they don't show the growth of their students they know that one day that little piece of information would come on hunt them for the rest of their life.
Also . on this week we read very interesting chapters about psychology of education . I learn that education psychology is define as the discipline concern with the teaching and learning process; which is applies the methods and theories of psychology and has it own as well.(p.12) What this classically means is that when a teacher/parent teaches someone else in some setting . Education psychology is very useful because because it teaches us how people learn differently a particular subject but it also teaches us how their cultural influence affects their learning . We also learn that their are several ways that we as a society can understand and improve learning . Some of the ones that stoop up for me were descriptive studies, ethnography and positive correlation . Descriptive studies collects specific situations , often using observation ,surveys ,recordings and combination of this methods . (p.14) I think that this is important because by collecting data we will be able to figure out were the root of the problem is for a particular student. That way it would be much easier to figure out a program that would help him/her succeed. Ethnography, describes approaches to research that focuses on life within a group and tries to understand the meaning of events to the people involve. I believe that by understand a group of student and their needs we are going to be able to know why some subjects come more easily to them then others .Lastly , positive correlations is a relationship between two variables in which the two increase or decrease together .(p.14) What I think this basically means is that sometimes we see students together all the time and it affects a lot the academic progress and behavior of one of the two . If the influence is good for the student then the reaction would be positive however, if its the other way around the reaction would be completely negative .
I just think that throw out this two chapters and the research combine we have learn not just need tools that would help us feel secure but to also have a better understanding of education . The most important thing would be to find ways to help those struggling students succeed ,
